In some instances a chip that has been damaged can cause key fobs to stop functioning. If this happens the key fob needs to be replaced, usually by the dealer. Remote Start
If your key fob includes the remote start feature, it will allow you to start the engine without having to have your car keys in the palm of your hand. Some key fobs have an exclusive remote engine start button (for instance Ford's keyfob has an arrow in a circle that goes clockwise) which you must press to remotely start your car. Others, like Mazda's key fob, require you to first lock the key and then press the start button.
